Stress

When you hear college what do you hear ? STRESS?
A lot of college students and many others experience stress from financial issues, school, work, family, relationships and and maybe even all of these!!!
Stress is your body's way of responding to any kind of demand or threat. When you feel threatened, your nervous system responds by releasing a flood of stress hormones, including adrenaline and cortisol, which rouse the body for emergency action.
Access amounts of stress can have negative effects on a persons health!! So I wanted to share one thing I do to reduce stress!
Yoga - Focuses on the mind body connection, slowing us down. Becoming present in the moment while focussing on the breathe. To often we want to rush through everything, never relax or calm down. Many people say that yoga is not for them, but there is more than one type of yoga and many different instructors. I hated yoga at first ! Then I found a style and instructor I really liked then I became hooked. Yoga has changed my life in many ways. Stay opened minded and give yoga a try !!!

  1. Nice post Val! Definitely true about the amount of work and out outcomes of college leading to stress and yoga is a great way to relieve some of it. Its something almost everyone can do, and its a healthy, productive way to take your mind off things. Doing yoga helps with a lot of aspects including focusing on your self and relaxing for a bit. For anyone reading this, I totally agree with Valerie's post and highly recommend it to anyone who has not tried it. It may be a little different experience at first, but its usually a good one.

  2. I love doing yoga. I mainly use it in my off season cross training as a way to enhance my flexibility and core strength. I have only done one style of yoga consistently but I open minded to trying other styles. The style of yoga that I really want to do is ashtanga yoga. I heard that ashtanga yoga is really great for athletes and it is very challenging which is right up my alley. Great post Val.
